My name is Jim and I’m a writer based in New York City.
I’ve been writing since I was young. Not for recognition and not for success, but to be honest with myself, without any pretense or filters. Writing is where I wrestle with my feelings, without judgment or apology. I craft essays and stories that express truths as I know them.
I was born and raised in New York City. I’m an old soul shaped by the city’s restless energy. Its crowded streets and uncovered stories fuel my curiosity. I’m drawn to my grandfather’s generation, who carried pain with grace and met duty with resolve. They spoke sparingly, but their words held weight. Their restraint and depth guide my writing; some days I write from strength, others from loss, but always from truth.
Recently, while helping my parents clean out their garage, I found boxes of old spiral notebooks. I’d searched for them for years. A younger me had mislabeled them to stay hidden, a precaution I’d forgotten. Opening those boxes was like cracking open a time capsule, reuniting me with a younger self I’d nearly forgotten. The scribbled handwriting, ink smudged by time, hit me like a wave. Each page echoed a boy grappling with his fears, dreams, and questions, brimming with raw emotion. Those journals reignited my passion to write, sparking a deeper purpose.
Those journals also showed me my words can connect with others, transforming writing into a bridge for shared understanding. Everything I write is grounded in real experience, exploring what’s difficult, what lingers, and the emotional texture of everyday life.
My work captures emotions we rarely express. These include masculinity, vulnerability, identity, faith, and the friction between who we are and becoming who we’re meant to be. I write for people who’ve done everything “right” but still feel off. And for those who have experienced that strange in-between state where nothing feels wrong, yet something isn’t quite right.
